Is it healthy to eat beef jerky?

Eating beef jerky can certainly be a healthy part of your diet. Provided the beef jerky is lean and nutrient-rich, it can offer up a lot of protein and other important vitamins. In fact, beef jerky has been known to contain high levels of iron and zinc, both of which the body needs to stay strong and healthy. Of course, the key is to look for low sodium options with limited fat content so that you can get all the benefits while still avoiding unhealthy filler ingredients. Investing in quality beef jerky will give you peace of mind that you’re making a wise dietary decision.

Why is beef jerky getting so expensive?

Beef jerky has become an increasingly expensive snack to have on hand. The rise in price is due to a combination of rising beef prices and production cost increases. With beef prices skyrocketing, beef jerky producers are being forced to adjust their prices accordingly. The cost of additional ingredients such as seasoning, sugars, sodium nitrite and other preservatives has also increased significantly over the past few years. This further adds to the overall expense of producing beef jerky and therefore to consumer's pocketbooks when they go to purchase the savory treat.

Is beef jerky just dried meat?

Beef jerky may be considered a dried meat, but it's so much more than that. It is an artful combination of precision drying techniques and unique flavoring that comes together to make beef jerky the delicious snack it is. There are hundreds of varieties, from sweet and smoky to hot and spicy, allowing beef jerky lovers to find the perfect flavor for their taste. No matter what type you choose, you know it will be full of flavor without being overly salty or greasy. If you haven't tried beef jerky yet, make sure you do! You won't regret it!

What kind of meat is used for beef jerky?

Beef jerky is enjoyed by people all over the world. It is a great snack that is both delicious and healthy, since it usually contains no added preservatives or sugar. At its most basic level, beef jerky is made from thin strips of lean meat that are seasoned and then smoked. Most often, the preferred kind of meat for making beef jerky is either top round or bottom round steak, as these cuts contain relatively little fat when compared to other types of beef. The cuts are marinated with spices, then thinned completely before being dried in an oven at low temperatures. This method results in a deliciously savory product that can be enjoyed as an on-the-go snack!

How long does beef jerky last?

Beef jerky is a popular, tasty snack that many people enjoy. This dried meat treat has a longer shelf life than most fresh meats and will last for about two to three months in an airtight container. To maximize the shelf life of beef jerky, it should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. If refrigerated or frozen, it can last up to one year. While beef jerky has a longer shelf life than many types of meat, it should still be checked before eating to ensure that it has been stored properly and enjoyed within its recommended range.
